Exploring the Art of AMAZAR

Rodeiro Art: Transforming Debris into Art

Discover the innovative AMAZAR technique, where art is reborn from creative remnants, redefining the concept of beauty and purpose.

The Origin of the AMAZAR Concept

AMAZAR is a revolutionary artistic technique that emerged in 1986 in Barcelona, Spain, through the collaboration between Bolivian poet and art theorist Dr. Nicomedes Suárez-Araúz and artist José Rodeiro. During their studio sessions in Sarrià, Suárez-Araúz observed that the residues accumulated during the creation of a work could be reused in creative and innovative ways. This process, which he called “amazar,” involves transforming debris into new artistic compositions, uniting chance and artistic intention. The technique not only challenges traditional perceptions of art but also promotes sustainability and continuous reinvention.

The Creative Process of AMAZAR

AMAZAR is an innovative approach to art that transforms residues from previous creations into new works of art. This process, developed by Dr. Nicomedes Suárez-Araúz, involves the creative reuse of discarded materials, turning what would otherwise be waste into something unique and expressive. The technique not only challenges traditional perceptions of art but also promotes sustainability by giving new life to materials that might otherwise be overlooked.

By integrating the concepts of “amasar” and “azar,” AMAZAR celebrates spontaneity and chance, allowing randomness to play a crucial role in artistic creation. This methodology not only enriches the creative process but also offers a new perspective on the relationship between the artist and materials, highlighting the inherent beauty found in the remnants and residues of the artistic process.
